Steve Granitz/WireImageFollowing their abrupt split, Mariah Carey is now asking for $50 million from ex-fiancee billionaire James Packer, reports TMZ.
Why that amount?
Because that’s what Mariah allegedly would have received if the two had signed their 100-page prenup agreement.
Mariah and James’ prenup, drafted by Packer’s lawyers, detailed several conditions, including Mariah receiving $50 million if they were to break up, claims the website.
According to TMZ, an email chain reportedly shows that Packer was at odds with his legal team, who had trouble getting the prenup “signed, sealed and delivered” by March 1, the date that James wanted to marry Mimi in Bora Bora.
During that time, Mariah was ready to marry James, with her dress, flowers, and flights for wedding guests all confirmed.
While legally, Mariah and Packer would have been unable to marry by March 1, as her divorce from ex-husband Nick Cannon was not yet final, the couple still reportedly planned to go ahead with the wedding, calling it a “commitment ceremony.”
Meanwhile, in addition to Mariah’s $50 million dollar demand from James, the singer plans on keeping her $10 million engagement ring, a source dishes to Entertainment Tonight.
