To celebrate the release of his new album Famous, Marques Houston has chronicled over two decades of his career in a nine-minute documentary.

In the film, Marques says that his fans inspired the concept for his newly-released project. “I’ll go places and people know me from You Got Served,” he says. “People know Sister Sister…people know me for my music, so there’s so many different things that I’ve been blessed with, so I just figured Famous was the appropriate title.”

Drawing inspiration from Marvin Gaye, Prince and D’Angelo, Houston says he was aiming to create “timeless” music when he returned to the studio.

“With this whole album, I really wanted people to feel what I was feeling, and have the same emotions,” explains Marques. “I feel like it’s my best album that I’ve done, which is a big statement, since I’ve done six albums.”

In addition, in the film, Marques discusses the biggest highlights of his career and how social media has changed the music industry. He also breaks down the inspiration for and meaning of the new songs on the new album, which is in stores now.
