Mary J. Blige and Evan Ross to star in upcoming film ‘Pink Skies Ahead’

According to Deadline, Blige and Ross have been cast in the upcoming drama Pink Skies Ahead. The film also stars Michael McKeanOdeya RushJessica BardenHenry WinklerLewis PullmanDevon BostickRosa Salazar and Marcia Gay Harden.

The film follows a “wild young woman” named Winona, whose life takes a sharp turn when she drops out of college and moves in with her parents. During that time, she’s also diagnosed with an anxiety disorder.

Barden will play Winona, while Blige will play Dr. Monroe, a therapist who specializes in panic attacks.

Ross, who had a guest-starring role on the now defunct FOX series Star, will play Cameron, the observant husband of Addie, Winona’s friend.

This is the latest project for Blige, who just signed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate, via her newly launched Blue Butterfly production company. In addition to the film, the Oscar nominee will soon appear in the long-delayed season 3 of VH1’s Scream. That series, which released it first teaser on Tuesday, also stars Keke PalmerParis JacksonTyga and more.

There is no word on when Pink Skies Ahead will hit theaters.
