Mary Wilson is all for a Supremes reunion, but says it’s up to Diana Ross

by

ABC/Justin StephensAs one of the contestants on the new season of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, The SupremesMary Wilson is getting plenty of media attention for her dance moves.  But the 75-year-old Motown legend tells People that she would be open to a Supremes reunion, though she admits the decision isn’t really in her hands.

“I think the fans would love to see it, but that’s really up to [Supremes lead singer] Diana [Ross],” Wilson says. “It’s up to her and if she would like to do it, then I’ll be there!”

Reflecting on her group’s success, Wilson notes, “The Supremes were very…famous, we were one of the most famous female groups in the world. And right now when you look at history, you see mostly the guys — you see The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and Elvis, but what about the girls? We girls were doing quite well ourselves.”

Mary adds that she feels her group can serve as an inspiration to other people seeking success in the entertainment world.

“This is something that I want to share with the world and I want everyone to know that we, The Supremes, did dare to dream,” she says. “We really did dare to dream and we made our dreams come true.”

Wilson also tells People that she’s enjoying getting time in the spotlight thanks to Dancing with the Stars.

Dancing with the Stars is for me, like great,” she declares. “It’s like having another hit record. It’s like having another grandchild!”

As for how she feels about taking part in the show, Wilson says, “It’s a competition, but I’m not competitive at all…I’m out there to do the best that I can be and to learn something new and be happy.”
