Mathew Knowles Says He’s Not Being Sued by Beyoncé over Destiny’s Child

Dave Hogan/Getty ImagesMathew Knowles says he’s not preparing a legal fight against his eldest daughter, Beyoncé, who was rumored to take him to court over ownership of the Destiny’s Child brand.

“These dangerous rumors defame my family name,” Knowles said a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “They have no validity and hold no merit.”

Knowles suggests that people focus on more newsworthy headlines. “There are many other important topics needing America’s attention,” he added. “No one needs more unnecessary negativity. Media like this needs to get on higher ground. I, for one, am focusing on lectures and seminars that help people achieve something positive and achieve better lives.”

Last week, sources told In Touch Weekly that Knowles won’t let the Destiny’s Child trio perform under that name unless he gets paid. While he denies any legal proceedings, Billboard reports Knowles does still own the rights to the girl group’s name and music.
