Megan Thee Stallion reflects on her relationship with her mother, preparing for new album, ‘Suga’

by

ABC/Image Group LAApproaching the one-year anniversary of her mother’s passing, Megan Thee Stallion uses her mother’s legacy as a driving force in her success.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the Houston hottie talked about her relationship with her mom and manager, Holly Thomas, who died from brain cancer the same month Megan also lost her great-grandmother. Meanwhile, Megan was getting ready to release her now award-winning debut mixtape, Fever and working toward her college degree in healthcare management, a dream of her mother’s.

“My grandmother would be very pissed off at me if I just stopped college right now,” Megan said. “My mother would’ve been like, ‘It don’t matter.'”

Megan said she’s not letting anything get in the way of her finishing her degree — not even a teacher she called her “biggest hater,” who gave her an incomplete in one class.

“I got to get this degree,” Megan insists.  “I already started it, and I’m interested in what I’m doing because I want to open up assisted-living facilities in the city.”

One of the drawbacks of fame is the emotional toll of having to deal with Instagram trolls and gossip sites voicing their opinion about Megan’s every move, from her twerk videos to her alpha female lyrics.

“I have a little anxiety, because I’m still going through the grief from losing my mother and my grandmother,” explains Megan.  “Then I have to get on the internet and see these mother*******s talking about me? That s*** really be pissing me off sometimes.”

Megan Thee Stallion hopes to show the world her “sensitive” side on her debut album, Suga.  Expected on May 2nd, her mother’s birthday, it include features from SZAKehlani and the Neptunes
