Megan Thee Stallion is chipping away at her new album and teases it’ll be more personal, open and moreover, her way of reclaiming her story.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Grammy winner previewed her upcoming work and several of its tracks. “I want to take you through so many different emotions,” she explained, noting that some songs will make fans want to dance, while others will turn on the waterworks.

Previewing her “turn up” track “Pressurelicious,” which features Future, Meg raps about stomping her haters so hard she’s “knockin’ out Mario tokens.”

A track that she’s very proud of is “Gift and Curse,” which is an anthemic rap about independence and embracing the power of her sexuality. “My motherf***ing body, my choice/Ain’t no lil d*** taking my voice,” she declares in one verse. “A b**** like me, yeah, I know my worth/F***ing with me is a gift and a curse.”

Meg explained of the song, “I can take care of myself. I’m so emotionally strong. I’m so independent…It’s a gift that I’m so strong, but I feel like it’s also a curse because it makes things get kind of lonely sometimes.”

She also revealed she has to be strong. After losing both her mother, Holly Thomas, and great-grandmother within weeks of one another, her grandmother, Madlyn, has become “really depressed.” Said Meg, “I don’t want to show her that anything is getting to me because I don’t want it to get to her.”

The “WAP” rapper previewed the track “Anxiety,” which is an emotionally raw single about dealing with her mother’s untimely death.

Looking back at all the obstacles she faced, Meg hopes her forthcoming album proves, “I’m still not letting nothing knock me down to take me off my game.”
