Columbia RecordsDestiny’s Child surprised everyone this past weekend when they reunited during a taping of the 2015 Stellar Awards.
So how did the trio keep their reunion performance of Michelle Williams‘ “Say Yes” a secret? “Well, sometimes you just know when to shut up,” Williams tells Entertainment Tonight. “We love having those moments where we rehearse in secret and private and then come back like, ‘Ah-ha! We’re back together!'”
The singer says that that asking her band mates Kelly Rowland and Beyonce to join her on stage was a no-brainer. “Last year they came on my song ‘Say Yes’ on my album Journey to Freedom. Then they agreed to do the video and I was like, ‘We need to just do it one time together because it’s one of their favorite songs,'” Williams says. “It’s so easy to just pick up the phone and say, ‘Ya’ll want to do it? Yes? Cool!'”
The 2015 Stellar Gospel Music Awards will air on TV One on April 5, Easter Sunday.
