ABC/Ida Mae AstuteMichelle Williams is taking a moment to reflect.

After it was announced on Wednesday that Williams’ doctors had advised her to take a leave of absence from performing in her Broadway play, Once On This Island, the singer let fans know she was entering the new year as strong woman.

“As 2018 is coming to an end, many of us are doing self-reflections,” Williams tweeted. “I’ve made a vow to myself that I will not allow fear to the get the best of me any longer.”

In her tweet, she added a clip of her new single “Fearless” and a promo shot of herself.

Williams joined Once On This Island on November 30 in the role of of the goddess Erzulie. With her departure, her understudy, Cassondra James, will assume the role until December 26. Then December 27, Lea Salonga, who originated the role in this production, will play Erzulie until its final performance on January 6.

The news of Williams leaving the Tony-winning play comes after the singer announced last week she’d officially broken off her engagement to pastor Chad Johnson.  On their OWN reality series, Chad Loves Michelle, the couple revealed they’d been attempting to work out their relationship issues with the help of a couples therapist.

Although Johnson has yet to publicly comment on the break-up, Williams deleted all his photos from her Instagram account.

As previously reported, Williams has been vocal about her battle with depression. In July, she revealed she was receiving treatment for her mental health issues.
