Miguel has no problem speaking his mind, especially when it comes to his artistry.

In a recent interview with U.K.’s The Sunday Times, the singer spoke about his relationship with Frank Ocean, to whom he not only lost a Grammy in 2013 but who he also feels isn’t that great of an artist.

“I wouldn’t say we were friends,” he told the Times. “To be completely honest — and no disrespect to anyone — I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around.

Miguel also addressed the ongoing comparisons between himself, Ocean and The Weeknd. “It’s interesting,” Miguel continued, “but we’ll see who’s in it for the long haul. It’s like a marathon, you know?”

After revealing that he’s “super-competitive,” Miguel also spoke of how his music is different. “That’s Frank. Frank is the tortured. That’s his thing. That’s not who I am. I may not be dark — as dark — and I may not be as poetic, but I’m living my real sh**,” says Miguel, whose third album Wildheart was released last month.
