Photo Credit: Daniel SannwaldMiguel surprised one lucky family with a concert in their living room as a part of the Make Room campaign, which seeks to end the rental housing crisis in America.

The singer was tapped for the organization’s “Concerts for the 1st” series, which are acoustic performances held in the living room of a family struggling to pay their rent. During Miguel’s private concert for the Rollins family in Detroit, he performs “Adorn” in front of several children. At one point, he laughs as they help him with the high notes.

“I think coming from a single-parent family and understanding how challenging it can be to stay afloat. I know how difficult it can be when you’re trying to do the best for your children, make ends meet so to give people some kind of encouragement is really cool, I’m really into it.” Miguel says, “Music is the great communicator because it’s rooted in emotion and the ability to use emotion and message I think is when it really is powerful.”
