Miguel Says Coffee Recalls a Perfect Night

by

Photo Credit: Daniel SannwaldMiguel remembers the early stages of a relationship in “Coffee,” the latest single from his third album, Wildheart.

The singer tells ABC Radio the song documents a memorable date with someone he truly connected with.  “‘Coffee’ was all about trying to describe one of those perfect nights, that’s like a beautiful blur, you know; and it’s like lust and vice, but rooted in, like, a weird, honest connectivity, something real, that je ne sais quoi,” he says.

While he doesn’t specify if the track is about his real-life girlfriend Nazanin Mandi, Miguel adds that there’s nothing better than having similar interests with someone you just met.

“You know, it’s like, ‘I don’t know what it is about you, but for some reason we laugh at the same things, and like we’re into the same movies and like, we just met and we’re having drinks,’ you know ‘and now it’s an adventure,'” he says. “I wanted to paint that picture and so, that’s what the song is about.”

Wildheart is available now.
