Monica Parts Ways with Longtime Record Label

ABC/Lorenzo BevilaquaMonica is “so gone” from her business relationship with label RCA Records after twenty years. 

The recording artist announced the news on Instagram Wednesday, posting pictures of her album covers from the start of her career with the  label. 

“I want to say thank you to RCA and their ENTIRE STAFF… for more than half my life we have been family. It’s been an honor to be on the same contract for two decades. I grew up with you all,” she began. 

“Our contract may have ended by the love is FOREVER……There’s a level of respect and dignity that has come with the ALL the hits we’ve made,” she wrote, adding a heart emoji to set her regards to executive Clive Davis. “I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!,” Monica she said of Davis. 

The singer’s career took off with her 1995 debut album, Miss Thang, which helped her to win aBillboard Music Award and American Music Award.  

Monica’s star reached greater heights with the song “For You I Will” from the Space Jam movie soundtrack and other hit singles to follow, including “The Boy Is Mine,” which also features Brandy, and “Angel of Mine.”
