Monica to be honored with the Lady of Soul Award at the 2020 Soul Train Awards

After an astonishing career over the last 25 years, R&B legend Monica will be honored with the Lady of Soul Award at the upcoming 2020 Soul Train Awards. 

The Grammy-winning singer, actress, and philanthropist has released a number of record-breaking albums and singles, selling over 25 million records. Monica is also the youngest female ever to have two back-to-back top ten albums on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop chart for her 1995 debut, Miss Thang, as well as her sophomore effort, The Boy Is Mine. She earned a Grammy for the single “The Boy Is Mine” with Brandy

Monica’s last album, Code Red, peaked at #3 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart in 2015. Meanwhile, fans are still awaiting her long-anticipated album, Trenches, which she has teased over the last few years. 

As previously announced, fellow Grammy-winner H.E.R. leads with eight nominations at the 2020 Soul Train Awards show, followed by Chris Brown with seven nods, Beyoncé and Young Thug with six each, as well as Chloe x Halle, Summer Walker and Usher with five apiece.

Brandy is set to hit the stage at this year’s event, along with newly-announced performers Babyface, Jazmine Sullivan, Ella Mai, Charlie Wilson, Smokey Robinson and more.

Fans can also look forward to appearances from Grammy-winning hitmaker Jermaine Dupri and P-Valley’s breakout star Brandee Evans.

The 2020 Soul Train Awards, hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell, airs at 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 29 on BET, BET Her, VH1 and MTV2.
