Ms. Lauryn Hill to perform for 90th anniversary of historic United Palace in New York City

Mariano Regidor/RedfernMs. Lauryn Hill will perform for the 90th anniversary of the historic United Palace theater in New York City this February.

The former Fugees member will be featured on February 22, 2020 in the first of several anniversary events at the theater, which was designated a New York City Landmark in 2016.

“It will be a day of celebration that features a stellar performance by the incomparable Ms. Lauryn Hill,” says the theater’s CEO, Reverend Heather Shea. “Her extraordinary talents and her creativity make her the perfect artist to showcase as we explore the intersection of art, spirituality, culture and entertainment.”

The theater, which is now a non-profit entertainment and spiritual center, was owned in the 1970s by famed television evangelist, Reverend Ike.

In other Lauryn Hill news, she’s recorded her first new music in four years for the soundtrack of the upcoming film Queen & Slim, which stars Daniel Kaluuya from Black Panther and Get Out.

The soundtrack, which also features Megan Thee StallionLil Baby, and Vince Staples, drops November 15. The film hits theaters on November 27.

In addition, Ms. Hill appears on the recently released Pusha T song “Coming Home,” which he released in conjunction with the social justice initiative known as the Third Strike Coming Home Campaign.
