Credit: Joey RosadoNaturi Naughton recently ended her relationship with her longtime boyfriend Ben, who fathered their two-year old daughter Zuri, and she now says she realized he was not the right man for her future.

“I don’t want to be married if it’s not the right marriage and the right person,” the Power star tells Essence. “I went through a lot of feelings of inadequacy about why did my life not turn out to be the perfect picture story, but that’s just not what was written for me.”

The former 3LW singer wrote a song about her split titled “Stay Too Long.” She sings, “Three months after the baby was born, your love for me was gone. How could you flip the script on me?…Love makes you foolish and stay way too long.”

However, despite their breakup, Naturi and Ben are working together to raise Zuri.

“God gave me a beautiful child, and her father is great and still in her life,” Naughton says. “We’re co-parenting. That’s a blessing in itself.”

The 35-year-old singer/actress will continue her role as Tasha St. Patrick in the sixth and final season of Power, which will debut August 25 on Starz. For her next role, she will star with Michael Ealy and Tristan Mack Wilds in the film Really Love.
