New Music Friday: Here’s new music from dvsn, Layton Greene, Earthgang & Wale

by

Warner RecordsHere’s a roundup of new R&B music to take us into the weekend.

dvsn makes a smooth return with their new single, “Blessings.” The gospel-influenced track finds the duo of singer Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 pondering long-term commitments and marriage.

The OVO Sound duo also announced the deluxe edition of their latest and third album,  A Muse in Her Feeling, which arrives in January 2021.

Next up is R&B queen Layton Greene with a video for her new single, “Chosen One.” Greene has spent the past year releasing visuals from her debut EP, Tell Ya Story, led by her Billboard Hot 100 hit “Leave Em Alone,” featuring Lil Baby, City Girls and PnB Rock

The East St. Louis native made a historic move, signing to Quality Control Music in 2019 — the same label behind rappers Lil Baby, Migos and Lil Yachty — as their first R&B artist.  With the release of new music, Layton could be preparing the release of her debut album in 2021.

Meanwhile, Dreamville duo Earthgang released an animated video for their new single, “Options,” featuring rapper WaleOlu, WowGr8 and Wale discuss their damaged history with relationships, but decide who cares, because when you’re a celebrity, you always have “Options.”

“I got options, I got options, babe / Got a million people watchin’ / Yeah, they clockin’, yeah, they clockin’ / I got options, I got options, baby /Got a million people watchin’ / Yeah, they clockin’ ’cause they know I keep it poppin’, ayy,” sings Olu on the uptempo track.

Earthgang is currently working on the follow-up to their 2019 major-label debut, Mirrorland. The melodic rap duo recently earned a 2021 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song for their track “Collide,” with R&B newcomer Tianna Major9.
