Nia Long to produce and star in Netflix’s ‘Fatal Affair’; Netflix’s ‘Lionheart’ become Nigeria’s first-ever Oscar entry

NetflixNia Long is getting behind the camera for her next project.

Deadline has learned that Long will star in and produce the upcoming Netflix film Fatal Affair.

The film, which will be the actress’s first producing project, will also star Stephen Bishop and Omar Epps, who co-starred with Long in the 1999 crime thriller In Too Deep.

Fatal Affair follows a woman who tries to fix her marriage after a brief fling with an old friend, only to learn he’s  “more dangerous and unstable than she’d realized.”

In other news, Netflix has decided to enter Genevieve Nnaji‘s Lionheart for Oscar consideration for Best International Feature Film.

According to Screen Daily, the film, directed and starring Nnaji, will also be among the first submissions entered into the category which was previously called Best Foreign Language Film. 

This would be Nigeria’s first international feature to be entered in the Oscar race.

As previously reported, Nnaji stars as Adaeze, a woman who takes over her father’s company that is ruled by a group of men including her incompetent uncle. The film also stars Nkem OwohPete EdochieOnyeka Onwenu and Kalu Ikeagwu.
