Oprah Winfrey to interview The Exonerated Five men of the Central Park Five in ‘When They See Us Now’

Oprah Winfrey is teaming up with Netflix for Oprah Winfrey Presents When They See Us Now, a companion to the Netflix series When They See Us that will feature an exclusive interview with The Exonerated Five.

Netflix announced on Friday that Winfrey will sit down for the first time with the five men from the Central Park Five case: Antron McCrayKevin RichardsonYusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise.

The intimate conversations will be recorded at Raleigh Studios in Los Angeles this Sunday.  The cast of When They See Us, including Niecy NashJharrel JeromeMichael K. WilliamsJoshua JacksonAsante Blackk and among others, will also be part of the event, as will director Ava DuVernay.

The special, which will air on both Netflix and OWN, will premiere on Wednesday, June 12 at 10 p.m. ET on OWN, immediately following the season four premiere of DuVernay’s Queen Sugar at 9 p.m. ET.

When They See Us is based on the true story of five teenagers from Harlem who were wrongly convicted of raping a woman while she was jogging in New York’s Central Park.  The series documents each teen beginning in spring 1989, when they were first questioned, to 2014, when they were exonerated.

When They See Us is now available on Netflix.
