Tracy Awino/Bleacher ReportLate rapper Pop Smoke has received a posthumous nomination at the 2021 Juno Awards.
The “Woo” rapper received a nomination in the International Album of the Year category of the Canadian Grammy equivalent for his debut album, Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon.
It’s been over a year since 20-year-old Pop Smoke was shot and killed during a home invasion in Hollywood Hills, where he was staying in February 2020. Five months later, Pop’s team released his posthumous debut, which was executive-produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon topped the all-genre Billboard 200 Albums chart last June, boasting features from Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, King Combs, DaBaby, Swae Lee and more, and including Pop’s #1 single, “Dior.”
The Juno International Album of the Year category also includes pop star Harry Styles, country starLuke Combs, and Taylor Swift‘s folklore, as well as Eminem‘s latest, Music to Be Murdered By.
Twenty-four-year-old Wondagurl also received a Juno nomination for Jack Richardson Producer of the Year for producing Pop’s “Aim For the Moon” track featuring Quavo, and “Gang Gang,” by Jackboys and Sheck Wes.
The 2021 Juno Awards will be held virtually and air on the CBC network on May 16.
