Courtesy of Starz50 Cent‘s unpredictable antics on social media ahead of the season six return of Power has apparently paid off.
Starz announced on Tuesday that viewership for the premiere episode of the show’s new season was up 40 percent from the season five opener. In fact, Power grabbed the largest audience for a scripted premium cable series premiere this summer, and the second-largest scripted premium series premiere of 2019.
The season, titled “The Final Betrayal,” has been highly anticipated and promoted. According to Starz, Sunday’s premiere pulled in 1.47 million viewers. Those numbers don’t include streams of the episode, which was released on the Starz app early Sunday morning.
Power, starring Omari Hardwick, Naturi Naughton and Joseph Sikora, airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
