Image Courtesy Michael Thompson/UniversalIn case you needed another reason to watch The Wiz Live!, NBC has released a 30-second glimpse of the three-hour production of the 1974 musical based on The Wizard of Oz.
In a new promo, we see Queen Latifah, who will portray The Wiz; Mary J. Blige, who’s playing The Wicked Witch of the West; David Alan Grier, who will fill the role of The Cowardly Lion; and Ne-Yo, who will star as the Tin Man. Also, Common will portray the Bouncer, “a gatekeeper of the entrance to Emerald City who is out to get what he can from Dorothy and her three friends.”
“I am the all powerful Wizard of Oz!” Latifah declares, while wearing a shimmery emerald-green suit and a white wig.
The cast also features gospel singer Stephanie Mills, Glee‘s Amber Riley, Uzo Aduba from Orange Is The New Black, and newcomer Shanice Williams, who will portray Dorothy.
The Wiz Live! premieres December 3 at 8 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
