Queen Latifah to Be Recognized at VH1 Hip Hop Honors

ABC/Randy HolmesThe 2016 VH1 Hip Hop Honors is paying tribute to rap royalty, so fittingly, the show will celebrate the career of Queen Latifah.

The Grammy Award winner will be recognized at VH1 Hip Hop Honors: All Hail The Queens, airing Monday, July 11 live from New York City at 9 p.m. Latifah also is one of the executive producers of the show. In addition to winning a Best Rap Solo Performance Grammy in 1995 for “U.N.I. T. Y.,” Latfiah has received six Grammy nominations. As an actress, she earned an Oscar nomination in 2002 for Chicago.

VH1 Hip Hop Honors is returning after a six-year hiatus. According to a statement, the show will pay homage to the female pioneers, trailblazers and trend-setters who led a movement and infiltrated the ranks of the male-dominated genre to make their voices heard and still do today.”

More honorees will be announced later this week.
