Relax, Beyhive: Rachel Roy Says She’s NOT Becky with the Good Hair

Jason Kempin/Getty ImagesRachel Roy has broken her silence to deny she’s the “Becky with the Good Hair” referenced in Beyonce‘s visual album, Lemonade.

The fashion designer issued a statement to People magazine after a dramatic weekend where the Beyhive singled her out to be the woman at the center of the Jay Z cheating rumors.

Roy tells People she wants to “put the speculation and rumors to rest” and that her much-discussed Instagram post over the weekend, which fueled the speculation and has since been deleted, was actually meant to be “fun and lighthearted.” The post included the words “good hair don’t care.”

“There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors,” the designer says.  She then asks that the “real issue” be addressed: cyber bullying.

“Online haters have targeted me and my daughters in a hurtful and scary manner, including physical threats,” Roy says.  “As a mother — and I know many mothers would agree — I feel that bullying in any form is harmful and unacceptable. I would hope that the media sees the real issue here — the issue of cyber bullying — and how it should not be tolerated by anyone,” she says.
