Rihanna has become the first artist to have than 100 million in sales of gold and platinum-certificated digital singles under her belt.

The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that the singer has the most Digital Single Awards and is the only artists to reach having 100 million cumulative certified singles.  The RIAA awards gold certification for 500,000 in sales and platinum certification for 1 million in sales.

“Gold & Platinum is the industry’s premier way to celebrate achievement in the marketplace,” said RIAA Chairman & CEO Cary Sherman in a statement.  “We’ve given awards to artists for nearly 60 years, but it’s rare that we have the opportunity to recognize a milestone like the one Rihanna has reached.  Congratulations to Rihanna!  She has not only surpassed RIAA’s one-hundred million mark, but also is the first artist to do so.  It’s an historic feat and a testament to an extraordinary career.”

The hit songs that helped her achieve this career milestone include her nine-times-platinum “We Found Love”, her six-times-platinum “Stay” and even her two recent platinum singles, “FourFiveSeconds” with Kanye West and “B***h Better Have My Money.”

We’re sure there’s even more hits on the way as Rihanna continues to work on her long-awaited album, tentatively titled R8, which is due out this year.
