Rihanna’s acting is incredible in upcoming movie Valerian, says co-star

by

STX FilmsTo date, Rihanna‘s movie career has consisted of quick cameo appearances, a voiceover role where we couldn’t actually see her, and a decent-sized part in a movie that nobody saw — Battleship, anyone?  But we’ll see plenty of her in the upcoming sci-fi film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and her co-star says she’s “incredible.”

Model and actress Cara Delevingne is the star of Valerian, directed by Luc Besson, who brought us The Fifth Element and Lucy. Speaking to Glamour magazine, she says of Rihanna, “I’ve seen her work in the studio, in concert, in meetings. But to see her act was incredible.”

“There was a moment where Luc was trying to make her cry, to be emotional,” Cara recalls. “He was like, ‘Imagine that you get told that your song hasn’t gone to number one and your performance is really bad.’ I knew she wasn’t going to give a s**t — that’s not the way to get into her emotion!”

“And she literally said, ‘You’re kidding me? I couldn’t care less.’ That was funny. Luc said we were similar in that, once the trust was there, we became clay he could mold.”

In Valerian, Rihanna plays a “shapeshifting entertainer” named Bubble. It’s in theaters July 21.
