Rihanna’s Upcoming Album is Looking Good, Says Reggae Star Kranium

by

ABC/Lou RoccoLast month, we learned that Rihanna‘s camp contacted several reggae artists to incorporate dancehall elements into her upcoming album. Aside from reaching out to Brooklyn producer Dre Skull, another one of those reggae stars happens to be Kranium, who confirmed to ABC News that he’s contributed to her next studio effort.

“I did actually, I can’t even talk on it, but I can say that I’ve been in studio working on projects with Rihanna — well, for Rihanna basically,” Kranium says. “I flew to Italy and we did some work and it’s looking good, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Kranium also spoke on why it’s a big deal whenever mainstream stars collaborate and find inspiration from reggae acts — he even refers to Drake covering his song “Nobody Has to Know” during a recent concert appearance.

“It’s very good, because I mean at the end of the day that’s Rihanna, you know even with Drake or anybody, once it’s outside your genre and that happens too, you have R&B artists that come to Jamaica to work with certain reggae artists, because we are big in our own world. You know, it’s just perfect when it’s clashed so I’m just taking it one day at a time.”

Rihanna’s highly anticipated album, tentatively titled #R8, currently has no release date.
