It was only a matter of time until a reggae star picked up what Rihanna was laying down. After giving fans a teaser last month, Beniton has issued the unofficial remix to Rihanna’s “Work.”
In the revamped song, posted on SoundCloud, the reggae artist completely removes Drake‘s featured lyrics and instead dominates the track, which only features parts of Rihanna’s chorus in a continuous a loop.
“After hearing Rihanna’s single, I wanted to give the song a different perspective with my lyrical wordplay for hardcore dancehall fans,” Beniton wrote in an e-mail to The Fader. “Shout out to Rihanna for representing the culture by putting out a dancehall track.”
Meanwhile, Rihanna’s original version has logged its seventh week at #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Streaming Songs charts.
