Robin Thicke & His Singer/Actress Mom Comment on Alan Thicke’s Passing

by

WireImageIn recent years, Alan Thicke was probably better known as the father of singer Robin Thicke.  Now, Robin has issued a statement regarding the passing of his father, who died of a heart attack at age 69 on Tuesday.

On Instagram, Robin wrote, “My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had. Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you, Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son.”

Robin’s mother and Alan’s ex-wife, Gloria Loring, also issued a statement.  “Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke’s passing,” she said, according to her rep. “It is a shock. We were all just together for Thanksgiving. He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest In Peace, dear one.”

With Alan, Loring co-composed the theme songs to Diff’rent Strokes and The Facts of Life, the latter of which Loring sang.  In 1986, she also scored a #2 hit with “Friends and Lovers,” a duet with singer/actor Carl Anderson.  She’d originally sung the tune on Days of Our Lives, on which she appeared for five years.
