Courtesy of 2R’s Entertainment & Media PRRuben Studdard is mourning the passing of his older brother, 44-year-old Kevin Studdard. The cause of death has not been revealed.
“My brother is and will always be a part of my life. He was one of my biggest fans, supporters, confidant and best friend,” Ruben said in a statement. “I do not know what the future holds, but we will keep moving as only he would want me to do. I ask all my friends and fans to please keep the Studdard Family in prayer as we go through this very difficult time.”
The American Idol winner posted a photo of himself with his brother on Instagram, and commented, “I thank God for giving me the Best Big Brother ever!!! He has always had my back and looked out for me. He always told me what i needed to hear even when i didn’t want to listen. I love you my kind sweet brother and i will miss you everyday. #RIH I Love you so much @studslife.”
Numerous fans expressed their condolences on social media, and Ruben commented on Instagramthat he was grateful for their prayers.
“First of all, I’d like to thank everyone for the kind words and expressions sympathy,” he wrote. ”I know how much my brother meant to everyone he came in contact with.”
He continued, “Again thank for all of your love and support during this difficult time.”
Ruben announced that there will be a public viewing at Smith and Gaston Funeral Home Friday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama. A homecoming celebration will be held Saturday at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.
