Ryan Destiny has landed a recurring role on ‘grown-ish’

Credit: Frazer Harrison/Getty ImagesFans of the Fox drama Star may still be disappointed by its sudden cancellation, but not for long as one of its leading ladies, Ryan Destiny, has snagged a new gig.

Monday, Freeform’s hit series grown-ish confirmed that Destiny has been tapped for a recurring role on the show. According to the dedicated grown-ish Twitter handle, the actress is set to take on the role of Jillian, “a transfer student from an HBCU who has come to study film-making at Cal U.” 

Destiny celebrated her new role via Twitter as well, writing, “Super exciteddd. love this show! hopefully I fit in ok.”

With production for season 3 officially in full swing, Destiny will add to the diversity of the cast which already includes Yara ShahidiLuka SabbatTrevor JacksonChloe BaileyHalle Bailey and more. 

The Kenya Barris-produced series serves as a spin-off to ABC’s black-ish, as it follows Zoey (Shahidi) and her friends throughout the course of their undergraduate years at CalU. The third season finds the young adults taking on contemporary issues as they gear up to face their sophomore year. 

The current season of grown-ish airs on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. on Freeform.
