On Thursday, The Shade Room obtained a statement from the “Icy” queen regarding the elevator incident.
Saweetie stated, “This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on. I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”
Earlier this week, TMZ obtained video footage taken at Saweetie’s apartment building in North Hollywood last year. The video shows Saweetie slapping the Migos rapper before grabbing a briefcase out of the elevator.
Quavo then grabs Saweetie’s arm and shoves her into the elevator, where the ex-couple collapse on top of each other. Quavo stands up, while his former girlfriend remains on the ground, appearing to rock back and forth in pain. When the elevator opens, Quavo uses the briefcase to hold the doors open for Saweetie, who struggles to stand before limping out of the elevator.
According to TMZ, the incident is currently being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, potentially as a domestic dispute.
Quavo has yet to publicly address the matter or his relationship with Saweetie since the two exchanged words following their breakup via Twitter. Saweetie announced their breakup on March 19, claiming their relationship ended due to Quavo’s infidelity and “intimacy is given to other women.”
In response to her statements, Quavo wrote, “You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
