Saweetie launches festival-inspired makeup line with Morphe Cosmetics

by

Jemal Countess/FilmMagicSaweetie is working toward establishing herself as more than just a rapper, following the likes of Nicki Minaj and Rhianna. Known for her popping lip gloss and slayed baby hairs, the Bay Area artist makes history as the first artist to partner with Morph Cosmetics to create a festival-inspired makeup line.

‘Backstage with Saweetie’ furthers her “Icy Girl” mantra, all about embracing your confidence. It includes a 24-pan eye shadow palette, a mini setting mist in Saweet Peach scent, and a trio of Icy Lips in purple, yellow and pink titled Bo$$ Tycoon, Money Miami and 8, mentioned in her single “My Type“: “Eight-inch big, ooh!”

“They’ll make your festival outfit pop,” Saweetie said.

Saweetie tells Billboard her history with makeup was inspired by her aunt, who was a makeup artist.

“So I was trying to figure out why my aunt’s makeup looked so [flawless] and mine was just some mascara and facial lotion,” says Saweetie.  “I quickly learned that it also includes contour, powder, lashes — all that good stuff. I went from not knowing that much to knowing basically everything there is about makeup. But I’m still learning.”

“My everyday [life] of being a boss woman — going to meetings, making executive decisions, collaborating with great brands like Morphe — continues to inspire me,” she continued. “I thank Morphe for giving me the opportunity to be the face of such a dope collection because it adds to the Icy brand of being a businesswoman, bossing up and getting that money.”

Saweetie also revealed plans to drop new music in the next two weeks. “I feel like with my next album, it will take my career to the next level,” she said.

Morphe’s Backstage with Saweetie collection will be available on March 20th.
