Blair CaldwellBay Area rapper Saweetie had a 2020 filled with Pretty Girl anthems, her “Pretty Planet” collection with online clothing brand Pretty Little Thing and empowering business moves for women.

The “baby hair princess” also launched collaborations with KISS’ hair products and Morphe make-up brushes.

Saweetie tells ABC Audio one of her New Year’s resolutions is to take over 2021.

“My New Year’s resolution is to dominate in the most friendly, competitive way as possible,” says the former USC college athlete. “I grew up as an athlete so I strive off of competitive greatness. Shoutout to John Wooden and his ‘Pyramid of Success’ [mantra] because I’m a competitor, I’m an athlete and I strive for greatness.”

Created by former UCLA coach Wooden, the Pyramid of Success serves as “a roadmap to successful behaviors.”

The “Tap In” rapper believes some of her 2020 moments of success came from “mistakes and learning moments.”

“I feel like my life is built off of mistakes and learning moments. 2020 was a year of sink or swim and I’m swimming baby,” says Saweetie. “So shoutout to my team because I couldn’t have done it by myself and 2020 has taught me a lot about resilience, perseverance and you know keeping that ambition in your tank. So I love 2020 and it taught me a lot.”

In 2021, Saweetie is set to release her highly-anticipated debut album, Pretty B**** Music, featuring her single, “Back to the Streets” with Jhené Aiko.
