Smithfield Foods Closes Plant After 300 Workers Diagnosed With Coronavirus

One of the biggest pork plants in the U.S. is shutting down until further notice because of COVID-19. The Smithfield Foods plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota has been closed after 293 people tested positive for coronavirus. The plant produced 4 to 5 percent of the country’s pork supply.  Other meat-producing facilities in Iowa and Pennsylvania have closed because of sick workers.
