Snoop Dogg, Jada Pinkett-Smith and others took to social media to remember the late Tupac Shakur on what would have been his 50th birthday Wednesday.

Snoop took to Instagram to share a fan-made video featuring clips of the two rappers at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996.  “Happy c-day, Pac,” Snoop wrote in the caption.

Pinkett-Smith shared her own tribute video a day earlier, featuring a handwritten poem titled “Lost Soulz.” In the caption, she spoke of honoring Tupac’s legacy.

“As we prepare to celebrate his legacy … let’s remember him for that which we loved most … his way with words,” Jada wrote Tuesday. “Here are a few you may have never heard before.”

The 49-year-old said she “went down memory lane” looking over “letters and many poems” Tupac gave her over the years.

“I don’t think this one has ever been published, honestly,” she said in the video. “He had a song called ‘Lost Souls’ on the Gang-Related soundtrack, and I believe this was the original concept because he wrote this, I believe when he was at Rikers. I don’t think he would have minded that I shared this with you guys.”

Though they met as friends in high school in Baltimore, Pinkett-Smith said on her Red Table Talk show in 2019 that they had a “complex relationship.” She added that she and Tupac “were an anchor for each other.”

At 25 years old, Tupac Amaru Shakur died on September 13, 1996 after being shot in a drive-by in Las Vegas.
