So Fresh, So Clean: André 3000 joins the cast of sci-fi film High Life

Paul R. Giunta/FilmMagicAndré Benjamin, more famously known as André 3000, one of the frontman for the legendary hip-hop group Outkast, has been tapped to star in the sci-film film, High Life.

Variety has learned that Benjamin will join Robert Pattinson in the upcoming film that “revolves around convicts who reduce their time behind bars in exchange for embarking on a dangerous mission to a black hole.”

High Life, which is the first English-language film debut from French filmmaker Claire Denis, also stars British actress Mia Goth, whom American audiences might know from the films Everest and A Cure for Wellness.

Benjamin has been featured in a variety of film and television roles throughout his career. In 2005, starred alongside Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson in John Singleton’Four Brothers.  

He also received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Jimi Hendrix in 2014’s Jimi: All Is by My Side, and had a hilarious turn as the rapper Dabu opposite Cedric the Entertainer in 2003’s Be Cool.

Principal photography for High Life is set to take place in Cologne, Germany.
