Summer Walker signs her first artist, NO1-NOAH, to new Ghetto Earth Records label

by

Ghetto Earth RecordsSummer Walker maybe pregnant with her first child, but that doesn’t mean the R&B singer can’t handle business before her bundle of joy arrives.

On Wednesday, the Over It singer announced her new imprint, Ghetto Earth Records, a joint venture with Interscope Records.

“I came up with Ghetto Earth because Earth is ghetto,” says Walker in a statement. “I don’t wanna be controlling over my artist’s music. I want them to be fully involved in everything they put out. I’m just here to support and help them get to wherever it is they’re trying to go in life.”

Her first signee is talented singer/songwriter and producer NO1-NOAH, who joined Walker on “White Tee” and “SWV” from her Life on Earth EP earlier this year.

“I’m excited to show people my music, and what I have to offer. I feel like being on Summer’s team, Ghetto Earth Records, is the right home for me to be as creative as possible as an artist,” says NO1-NOAH in his own statement.  He adds of Summer, “She’s really understanding of what a true artist is, as she is one herself. I’m free to create here and it’s always a great feeling as an artist to be able to make music for a team that gets the sound that you’re trying to create.”

After gracing the cover of Billboard’s annual R&B/Hip Hop Power Players Issue last month and winning Album of the Year at the 2020 Soul Train Awards for her 2019 debut, Over It, this seems to be the perfect way for Summer Walker to end 2020.

“Ridin for My Love,” NO1-NOAH’s first single on Ghetto Earth Records, drops Friday.
