Reaction from actor Arnold Schwarzenegger came not long after California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an order requiring all residents to wear masks amid the ongoing and growing COVID-19 pandemic.
Schwarzenegger tweeted that it was the “right move, ” and added that anyone who makes makes a political issue is a “moron.”
This is 100% the right move. This will help us beat this terrible virus. The science is unanimous – if we all wear masks, we slow down the spread and can reopen safely. It’s not a political issue. Anyone making it a political issue is an absolute moron who can’t read. https://t.co/N0FmCwDU5w

Meantime, on Friday, Dallas County Commissioners ordered businesses to require masks; that, after a contentious back and forth between the Democratic County Judge Clay Jenkins and Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott that played out last week. Abbott accused Jenkins of “trying to play sheriff’ in calling for a mask requirement.
For his part, Jenkins said that Abbott needed to step up and lead on the issue or give local governments the leeway to act.
At the end of the day, Gov. Abbott his phased re-opening plan allowed for local governments to order businesses to enforce a mask requirement all along.
A number of North Texas mayors, both Democrat and Republican has signed a letter asking for local control on the issue.
