Texas Moves To Limit Abortion Due To Coronavirus

by

As the coronavirus pandemic grows, especially in Texas it has caused limitations in the health care system due to the increase of patients coming into the hospital. If it is not an essential surgical procedure then they must “postpone all surgeries and procedures that are not immediately medically necessary to correct a serious medical condition of, or to preserve the life of, a patient.” Said by Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Abortions have been classified as non-essential surgery and violating it could result in fines of up to $1,000 or 180 days imprisonment.

This does limit the timeframe for women who are seriously thinking of getting an abortion due to the fact that Texas bans abortion for women who are 20 weeks or more. This has caused uproar for many women because they feel that this is an opportunity for the Texas government to control women and their rights to an abortion.
