Def Jam Records

In December 2020, Teyana Taylor announced she was “retiring this chapter of my story” as an artist. The next day, she said she wanted to retire after desperate attempts to be released from Def Jam Records, the label she signed with through Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D Music in 2012. Now, the singer, dancer, director and actress is planning to make her final mark on the music industry.

In response to a fan, who asked about a final tour before retirement, Taylor tweeted, “Yes. I will be doing a farewell tour in a few months.”

Although most fans are sad to see the talented artist leaving the music game, they’re also excited to see Teyana Taylor hit the stage.

“BRING ME ON STAGE! I’VE BEEN READY SINCE 2014,” one fan tweeted, while another said, “I think I’ll probably be screaming and crying at @TEYANATAYLOR farewell concert.”

Another wrote, “Soooo @TEYANATAYLOR can we get a performance of “Do Not Disturb” with [Chris Brown] for the culture or Michael Jackson Scream. That would be. Either way, I’m in there like swimwear.”

Taylor then tweeted a few laughing and crying emojis after one fan said, @TEYANATAYLOR, retire without another album and see what happens.”

Since announcing her retirement, Teyana has kept herself busy directing music videos for Flipp DineroQueen Naija, Monica, Lil Durk and more. Up next, the 30-year-old will star in writer/director A.V. Rockwell’s directorial debut film, A Thousand and One, according to Deadline.
