The annual star-studded affair, which honors various celebrity mothers, was hosted by La La Anthony and Anthony Anderson

Teyana and Bobby honored Teyana’s mother, Nikki Taylor, with a performance of Bobby’s hit track, “Every Little Step.”

Meanwhile, Ne-Yo took the stage to perform his songs “Good Man” and “Miss Independent” as a tribute to actress Gabrielle Union‘s mom, Theresa Union.

Jhené Aiko and her daughter Namiko Love also appeared onstage together to perform a song they wrote together, called “Sing to Me,” as Jhene’s mother, Christina Yamamoto, adoringly looked on.

“Sing to Me” is featured on Jhené’s latest disc, Trip.

Sean “Diddy” Combs also showed up to surprise his mom, Janice Combs, with a tribute performance from none other than Patti LaBelle

Diddy gave a moving speech before Patti’s performance of her hit, “You Are My Friend.”

Diddy began his heartfelt speech by saying, “I would not be standing here today if it was not for my mother, Miss Janice Combs. She was a single mother who worked four jobs to raise me and my sister Keisha in Harlem.”

“And this was through one of the toughest times of our lives — my father was killed when I was three and the pain that she must have been going through to surpass that and to take care of us is something that all mothers possess.”

The speeches and performance highlights from Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms are streaming on VH1.com and YouTube.
