The gang’s all here: Disney+ orders the revival of ‘The Proud Family’

Thanks to Disney+, The Proud Family will officially return to the small screen. Disney has announced the revival of the groundbreaking series with all-new episodes.

Now called The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, the animated family sitcom will include original cast members as well as the executive-producing team of Bruce W. Smith and Ralph Farquhar, who led the original series, and Calvin Brown, Jr., who will serve as co-executive producer and story editor.

Like the original, the new Proud Family will center on Penny Proud, played by Kyla Pratt, and her rambunctious family that includes her parents Oscar and Trudy, twin siblings BeBe and CeCe, and her grandmother, Suga Mama. It will also include Penny’s ride-or-die crew of Dijonay Jones, LaCienega Boulevardez and Zoey Howzer, among others.

In addition to Pratt reprising her role, others set to return are Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez. Cedric the Entertainer will also return as Uncle Bobby Proud. 

The original Proud Family aired from 2001 to 2005 on the Disney Channel.

Disney has yet to announce the launch date of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder.
