The Jacksons to receive Lifetime Achievement award at Black Music Honors ceremony this month

The Jacksons will be recognized for their career musical contributions with the Lifetime Achievement in Music Award at the Black Music Honors event, which will be recorded August 18 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.  

The legendary family music group is also scheduled to perform at the ceremony, which will air on syndicated stations during September and premiere on Bounce TV October 10.

A number of other awards will also be presented during the music event.  Jody Watley will receive the the Crossover Music Icon Award, the Legends Award will go to Oleta Adams, the Hip-Hop/Rap Music Icon Award to Slick Rick, and the R&B Soul Music Icon Award to New Jack Swing originators Guy.  

In addition, the show will feature performances by SWVKid ‘N PlayMarvin WinansDa BratSevyn Streeter, Avery Sunshine, and Dave Hollister, among others. 

TV and radio personality Rickey Smiley and singer/actress LeToya Luckett will co-host the affair. 

Proceeds from tickets sold for the Black Music Honors event will benefit the National Museum of African American Music, which is slated open in Nashville in 2019.
