A source tells Entertainment Tonight that Beyonce — usually a focal point of the annual New York City event — is skipping the high-fashion bash to go on a trip with her husband, JAY-Z.
“JAY-Z surprised her with a trip because he felt she needed to relax before her [On the Run II] tour,” the source says.
Bey was, in fact, planning to attend the Met Gala wearing a custom-designed gown by DUNDAS.
As previously noted, Rihanna is co-hosting the highly anticipated soiree along with lawyer-activist Amal Clooney and Versace Group vice-president Donatella Versace.
The theme of the show this year is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” so fans might see some of their favorite celebrities wearing Catholic-inspired looks on the red carpet.
The On the Run II tour gets underway June 6 in Cardiff, Wales.
