Things come around in waves: TLC’s Chilli is ready to sing and crowd surf for I Love the 90s: The Party Continues tour

L-R: Chili, T-Boz of TLC; ABC RadioWith the release of TLC‘s final album, TLC, out now, fans of the iconic group may feel as though they’ve taken a trip back to the 90s.

And, perhaps, they have even more of a reason to feel this way as the I Love the 90s: The Party Continues tour kicks off today.

Since Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes’ death in 2002, TLC’s Chilli and T-Boz have continued as a duo, with Chilli explaining why she’s not shocked by what appears to be a return of the seminal era for music.

“I think things come around in waves. We don’t have any rock bands right now. That was the cool thing about the ’90s, because you had such a variety of different kind of music,” she tells ABC Radio.

Chilli adds, “You had heavy rock, R&B, pop, I mean everything was there for you. And now it’s just kinda a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and that’s kinda it.”

One thing that Chilli hopes to see on the tour is TLC fans wearing the fashion that the group made famous at the height of their career. “We love seeing the overalls and the condoms and the big hats and TLC t-shirts and all that kind of stuff and so we just get out there and jam.”

Chilli reveals that ticket holders might even get the chance to see her doing “a little crowd surfing” as they sing old classics and new tracks. “Just depends on the crowd,” she adds.

“I’m so excited. I hope that everybody comes out. I mean, if you have not seen a TLC show…  I promise you it is so much energy.”
