ABC/Randy HolmesTinashe is no longer signed to RCA Records, Rolling Stone reports.
According to the “2 On” singer’s manager Mike Nazzaro, Tinashe decided to leave the label, contradicting rumors that she was dropped.
“She wasn’t dropped…we initiated for her to be released,” Nazzaro told the publication. “It was a positive split for her. It’s giving her back creative control.”
Nazzaro also added that it has been “a respectful separation on both sides” and that “it was time to part ways.”
Tinashe has been subtly hinting at the split with her longtime label home since late last year, particularly via Instagram. Just days before the news went public, the singer shared a video in which she seemingly addresses her newfound creative freedom.
“What’s next?,” she captioned the post.
As for next steps, the Dancing with the Stars standout and her management team are still deciding whether or not to move forward with new partners.
