TLC’s ‘CrazySexyCool’ Biopic Draws 4.5 Million Viewers

by

Facebook.com/OfficialTLCIt seems like there was a lot of pent-up demand for the premiere of the TLC biopic, CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.  The original movie, which premiered Monday night, has become VH1’s highest-rated telecast in more than five years.

The network announced that the movie, which stars Keke Palmer as Chilli, Drew Sidora as Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, and Lil Mama as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, attracted more than 4.5 million viewers, making it  VH1′s highest-rated original movie ever.  The film also ranked as the number one cable movie this year among adults and women 18-49.  And if it seemed like everyone on social media was talking about the film while it was on, well, a lot of them were.  The network cites Nielsen’s SocialGuide as reporting that the film was the most tweeted-about program Monday night, generating 1.92 million tweets, four times as many as the second most tweeted-about program, Monday Night Football.

On Tuesday, TLC expressed their gratitude to the audience. “We just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who tuned in for ‘CrazySexyCool’ last night. You all mean so much to us and we would be nothing without you. Thank you for all the love and support over the years,” the group wrote on Facebook.

In related news, TLC’s new soundtrack for the film, 20, jumped from #43 to #5 on the iTunes overall chart, and jumped to #1 on the iTunes R&B chart.
