Sean Zanni/Getty Images for DieselRapper Kanye West made headlines after kicking off his presidential campaign at his first rally Sunday, held in North Charleston, South Carolina.

His appearance sparked tons of controversy as many fellow music artists took to social media to express their discomfort and confusion over Ye’s remarks about legendary Black abolitionist Harriet Tubman, and more.

On Instagram, Trey Songz shared a video clip from the rally, where Ye’ claimed, “Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves, she just had the slaves go work for other white people,” before a woman is heard saying, ‘Yo, we’re leaving right now.”

In the caption, Trey wrote, “Ye you in the way of progress foreal, how you turn this goofy from who you were? I’m so confused, whoever got his number need to call him.”

In another post, Trey shared a photo of him wearing a hoodie with a picture of Tubman.

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg penned a thank-you message to Tubman, the former slave who helped hundreds of enslaved individuals travel to freedom during the Civil War. “Thank you, queen, Harriet,” Snoop wrote, along with black hearts and three GOAT emojis.

Twitter wasn’t too fond of Ye’ remarks either, including Joey Bada$$, who tweeted, “I think its pretty [freaking] clear that Ye ain’t go no ‘real friends.'”

TDE rapper Reason described Kanye as “a prime example of not having enough people around him that care enough to tell him the truth.” He continued, “This is sad, and I feel for him. Prayers up, hopefully, he gets the help he needs.”

But Wale said, “Distractions gon distract, stay focused. Please,” before sharing a tweet by Questlove with the hashtag, #YoWeLeavingRightNow.
