Trina celebrates the 20th anniversary of ‘Da Baddest B***h’ debut; announces new album

by

Thaddaeus McAdams/WireImageRapper Trina celebrated the 20th anniversary of her debut Da Baddest B***h, even posting a 20th anniversary video on her Instagram.

Trina made her debut on Trick Daddy’s 1998 breakout single “Nann,” before signing with Slip N’ Slide Records — a time she found stressful.

“It was a lot of pressure because it was all on a short time frame, and I was going back and forth with different sounds with my voice and just trying to get things done that I wanted to actually make the album,” she told Forbes.

Her 2000 debut, Da Baddest B***h, debuted at #11 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, featuring the singles “Da Baddest B***h” and “Pull Over.”

Over the last two decades, we’ve watched the Diamond Princess transform from artist to mogul, creating her Rockstarr Music Group imprint. With six studio albums, Trina gave us a glimpse of the Glamorest Life but let us know she’s Still da Baddest in 2008, and Amazin‘ in 2010.

Her sixth studio album, last year’s The One, was released and then pulled from streaming services over a “bad business” deal with a former partner in June and the loss of her mother in September.

“The whole end of (2019) has been a disaster, so to even start off at the top of this year and have a refreshing desire to even deal with that, it’s a step forward,” Trina said. “That’s how I look at it. It’s music, it’s passion, it’s what I do, so I look at it all as a lesson learned.”

The One finally arrives Friday, with a deluxe edition featuring new tracks expected on April 4th.

Trina stars on Love & Hip Hop: Miami with Trick Daddy tonight at 9:00 ET on VH1.
